There are a lot of things you may have missed and one huge issue that is a constant pain in the butt, check it out in this Corsi Blog and finally figure out how to choose the right Tuning machine upgrade!

3 Powerful Booking Tips (music biz 101)

This blog is going to be a "stinger" for some d.i.y musicians out there, I am completely aware that this particular post might stir the pot a little, but I just want to say three important things before we continue...

Okay, now that that is out of the way, let's have a little heart to heart when it comes to booking your own gig. Booking itself is something that takes years of practice, it doesn't seem like it at first, but it takes such a large amount of trial and error, listening to the ones that have been there before, being open to critique and rejection, as well as, being completely vulnerable and self aware, being able to do any of those things are tough feats for anyone, but they are what is needed before you reach out to any gig if you want to be taken seriously. Beyond all of that there is a factor of "nuance". We have to know how to approach a gig in a proper manner and take steps that make you move to the front of the line, we have to be self aware enough to not waste our time or the venue's time. We can do this though, and once you have done it a few times you can continue to refine your approach and after enough rejections you'll realize that is a time to grow and achieve, the "I'll show them" mentality is sometimes detrimental but yes, on some level you can think that way, but just think about how you are saying that. I like to say that the better way to express the "I'll show them" mentality, is to rise up instead of tear down, don't go off on a twitter rant about how shitty the venue is because they turned you down, turn it up, and take it as a challenge, shake your fist like you are in a video game, laugh it off and take it as a moment to grow and reinforce your hard work and show them what you're made of a few months from now or a year from now and so on.

Here are 3 powerful booking tips to help you on your way and I just want to say, I do scold a little in the video but I think you can get a sense of the playful nature I was talking about above, you have to have a sense of humor about this business, because it is a hard path and you better fortify for yourself with a positive attitude and humor and fun is always the fastest way to that. Don't forget to remember to enjoy the adventure of being a working musician and artist, no reason to be miserable if you are not a good fit for a venue, just move on and find a place that appreciates what you do, or grow and become the artist everyone wants, whatever you choose, do it with a smile and positive attitude, as much as you can. I want to say, I know it is tough to put yourself out there but remember, noone is trying to make you quit, you are the only that can say when the train stops so keep on rollin'!

Pickguard Removal (repair)

Welcome to my Corsi Blogs where I talk all things d.i.y musician! Today we are in my guitar repair shop and I am talking pickguard removal. This is so easy you can do it at home but be cautious!

Thank you to Bobby Villarreal for donating his Martin 000-15m for this demonstration. He was a bit impatient and went ahead and removed the pickguard himself the night before then had me finish it off for him here at the shop. In this video I go over different ways to remove the pickguard itself as well as what products you can use to remove the left over adhesive depending on the guitars finish. Whether you’re gonna be replacing one that's beginning to peel, give the guitar a new look, or if you’re like Bob - you’ll be keeping one off the guitar.

The Power of Prosody & Captive Content (songwriting)

Here is the catch 22 about songwriting class, you are learning tried and true techniques and how to apply those techniques in a very linear, methodical way. The problem with that, is you can be doing all the "right" things and still not be able to connect with your audience. Why? Because no matter how many times you say "I love you" to a stranger, if they don't know you, if you don't give them who you are, if you aren't coming from a real place, they will know that you don't mean it. Words are just words after all. They have to be backed up by something.

With that said, communication in how you love someone is important, how you express this emotion is important and that's where the power of prosody comes in...
